Comments:

by Sprake:
The same picture as STG 94 [so212 on this site] except that the title is "Souvenir of the Wild West."

by Godden:
William Frederick Cody (1846-1917) has been previously listed under BUFFALO BILL [so128 on this site].
The important large-size silk titled W. F. CODY shows 'Buffalo Bill' surrounded by the portraits of seven Indian chiefs and Nate Salsbury, the director of the famous Wild West show. Two American flags are crossed below these portraits.
The title, SOUVENIR OF THE WILD WEST was listed on back-labels from 23+26+2 of 1887 onwards, mounted on various card-mounts according to the period of issue.
The subject was mentioned in The Stationery Trades Journal of October 1887, and the point was then made that this was one of the one-shilling subjects, not the normal sixpenny portrait.

The same subject was also issued with the title W. F. CODY (BUFFALO BILL) (see so212).
