Madonna and Child - Against a gold and yellow back-ground the Madonna is pictured in brilliant red, blue and golden garments.

by Godden:
This rare silk shows the Madonna, with Child on her right arm, posed against a gold and yellow ground.

The title was first listed on label 29+38 of 1893 and continued into the present century.
The subject is also found in postcard form.

Other comments:
Between its first appearance, until the ceasation of back labels, the spelling of the Maddona and Child silk was listed with four variations:

Madona and Child was the first version to appear, on label 29+38, and then again on 31+31 and 31+29a.

Madonna & Child was the second version to appear, on label 29+34, and then again on 31+29b, 31+29c, 31+30 and 30+32.

Madonna and child was the third version to appear, although not until label 31+32. It then re-appeared on label 31+39a, and remained in this version until back labels ceased.

Madona & Child was the final variant, and appears on only the 32+29 label.
