by Austin Sprake:
Shows a view of the Exhibition building and four small views of Edinburgh, surmounted by the City's Coat of Arms.
by Geoffrey Godden:
Apart from the single normal-size view of the Exhibition buildings [st 468 on this site], there was also issued a larger multi-view picture measuring 10 1/2inches by 8 1/2inches (above). This card-mount also bears the printed inscription "A present from the Edinburgh International Exhibition, 1886". The central silk shows the same view as st 468 (with the Stevens credit below); surmounting this is the arms of the city and, on each side, two smaller views of the old city - making four views in all.
These Edinburgh Exhibition subjects do not appear listed on the standard back-labels as the special silks were sold only to visitors to the Exhibition.
Similar Edinburgh views were issued by W. H. Grant, who also had a stand at the Exhibition.
