THAT WE MAY MARK
THEM AS THEY GO,
AND FIND OUR WAY TO

This design was registered on 1 August 1871 (Number 254390).
The image above is of the bookmark still attached to the original supporting backing card that would have given protection to the silk bookmark. The Stevens logo was embossed into the paper, and can be just made out in the image.
