Comments:

by Godden:
This early Grant silk portrait, first issued in 1885, is similar to the Stevens portrait listed as number §88 [so92 on this site], (which contains the historical background).

Some Grant back-labels, have a summary of the career of Disraeli, the Earl of Beaconsfield, while others list only the available subjects.

As with the other political portraits, variations are found - often in the colouring of the flowers under the portrait - and the subject is found in large and small sizes; in colours, originally sold at 6d each; or in black and white at 3d (§1021a). Examples normally have the Grant name and address printed on the card-mount, under the silk.
