by Godden:
An imposing silk portrait of King George V, who succeeded to the British throne in May 1910.
This large portrait is found on the dark-coloured card-mount without any title or credit. I have seen examples with the rubber-stamped inscription 'Made in Switzerland' applied to the back of the card-mount.
The pair to this royal silk is HER MAJESTY QUEEN MARY [go176 on this web site].
A rare Christmas card was issued in 1910 depicting George V and Queen Mary [see postcards gc100 'A bright and Joyous Time' on this web site]. A single untitled postcard-size silk in the Blades Collection depicts George V in an oval frame-like surround with the Royal Arms below [see postcards gc80 on this web site]. A postcard containing this royal portrait silk has been reported with the registration number 574478, granted on 2 December 1910 [see postcards gc76 on this web site].
